I wish I didn’t have to write this but it is something that has been bothering me. Last night in Final Fantasy XIV’s /shout chat there was a player who was basically saying that because of non-believers (of God) are the reason that the recent Florida school shooting happened. When I first read that, I was at a loss of words. This is what was said:

[23:25]Judah Lion: The Florida school shooter would be siding with you guys against me
[23:25]Judah Lion: you guys share the same morality he does
[23:25]Judah Lion: Think about that
[23:25]Judah Lion: He was Antifa
[23:25]Judah Lion: and democratic
[23:25]Judah Lion: and liberal
[23:25]Judah Lion: and a God-hater
[23:25]Eliana Eisenhower: yes, and atheist
[23:25]Judah Lion: All the problems in America is because of rejecting God
[23:26]Judah Lion: That is what happens when a nation becomes amoral
[23:26]Judah Lion: Yes
[23:26]Eliana Eisenhower: and that is the devils working
[23:26]Judah Lion: Let your conscience stir
[23:26]Judah Lion: and trouble you
[23:26]Judah Lion: Because you know I speak the Truth
[23:26]Eliana Eisenhower: to reject God is to accept the devil
[23:26]Judah Lion: When America rejected God
[23:26]Judah Lion: We went down a bad path morally
[23:26]Eliana Eisenhower: yes we did, look at everyhting now
[23:27]Eliana Eisenhower: its becasue as a nation, we Rejected God
[23:27]Judah Lion: And in doing so, we have brought judgment upon ourselves
[23:27]Eliana Eisenhower: and allowed the devil to take over
[23:27]Judah Lion: But you will not be able to escape GOD
[23:28]Judah Lion: It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God
[23:28]Eliana Eisenhower: this deflection is a defense mechanism by the devil
[23:28]Judah Lion: You guys have a warped concept of Christianity that came about under false slander
[23:28]Eliana Eisenhower: if you reject God, you accept the devil
[23:28]Judah Lion: Under the brainwashing of secularism
[23:28]Judah Lion: You don’t even realize what a wretched state you guys are in
[23:28]Judah Lion: Only the God of Israel can give you true peace

It goes on for a bit after that as well. Why are we bringing the school shooting up to push the Christian agenda? What was said is also against the Terms of Service of Final Fantasy FIXV:

Harassment

The use of inappropriate or offensive language, whether or not directed at another player, is considered harassment and is strictly prohibited. Using inappropriate language(including any play on words that could be deemed offensive) in a character name; Free Company name, Linkshell, Chocobo or Retainer name; Party Finder or Search Comment; or any other publicly-displayed message also constitutes harassment. SQUARE ENIX evaluates all claims of harassment on a case-by-case basis. If SQUARE ENIX determines in its sole discretion that one or more players have engaged in harassment, SQUARE ENIX may issue account penalties to all players involved in the harassment.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of language that could constitute harassment:

· Language generally considered unacceptable in a public place.

· Language intended to harm, annoy, threaten, or harass a third party.

· Language promoting discrimination against any race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or disability.

· Language promoting violence against any person,group of people, or property.

· Language intended to elicit a negative responseor that could trigger negative debates or conflicts.

There may be other types of harassment that do not fit square lyinto the above-described categories, such as when a player attempts to bypass anti-harassment mechanics like the blacklist or language-filter features. SQUARE ENIX may determine that such conduct constitutes harassment, even if such conduct is not expressly prohibited herein.

I already contacted the FFXIV support team about this issue. I don’t want to see the behavior on our server. It doesn’t promote a good game environment. People come to FFXIV to relax and just have fun playing the game with their friends and the community. Not to be preached at about how horrible a person we are.
