Let’s take a look into why raid teams should gear up their DPS before tanks and healers. The way the fights have been designed is with pretty steep DPS checks as you progress through. Gearing up your dps first helps alleviate the major part of the fight. In turn it helps the fight not last as long which helps the healers and their mana pool. With that being said, gearing tanks or healers next is all up to the player skill. If your healers are amazing, they can make bad gear work and work well. So in that case, you would want to gear up your tanks before the healers.

I know there may be a lot of people that disagree with this, but in my experience, this has always been the best way to go about gearing up your raid group. So that is why when, in my old raid group, the PLD got the upgrade weapon, it ticked me off. Your tank dps doesn’t matter as much as my dps as a damage dealer. Especially when you start saying things like, “Why am I doing more dps than you as a tank?”
