This is going to be a bit more off topic but I feel that it needs to be brought up. So today I was looking at used games at Gamestop looking to see what they had for my Nintendo Switch. After looking, I was starting to realize that they were charging only $3.00 less than for the brand new game. Look, i’m sorry but a $3.00 discount is not going to make me buy used over new. Gamestop wonders why they aren’t doing well financially. This may have something to do with it. You shouldn’t be looking to make massive markups on used games. Now, if you were giving like $50.00 for the trade in and then selling it back for the $56.00 it wouldn’t be that bad. But I know for a fact that this isn’t the case. Someone trading in a game would be super lucky to get $20.00 store credit for a game they originally paid $59.99 for. In the end, it’s still roughly a $36.00 markup.
After doing this research, I am officially done with Gamestop. I don’t think that they’ll change soon enough and eventually die out.
